Abstract The Vickers hardness of Al65Cu20Co15 quasicrystal before annealing was determined to be about 11 GPa. By measuring the length of the cracks near impression the toughness and the fracture strength were evaluated to be about 1.0 MPa·and 450 MPa,respectively.No obvious change of microhardness or toughness was found after 850℃, 36 h annealing.But the fracture strength rised to 550 MPa.MENG Xiangmin,(Institute of Metal Research,The Chinese Academy of Sciences,Shenyang 110015)
