Abstract Optical microscope, SEM and IMMA investigation show that a strong interactionbetween hydrogen and calcium aluminate inclusions cotaining Mg may occur in medium carbonsteels. That causes the hydrogen accumulating around the inclusions and reducing the ductilityof the steel.
