Abstract  The stability of TiC prepared by in situ reaction in molten Al has been confirmed by using SEM and XRD. With the increase of the content of TiC, the structure become finer, the distribution of TiC in matrix becomes more homogeneous and some mechanical properties are improved. The fracture surface observed by SEM is ductile one.
