Abstract The distribution ratio of extraction of Tb~(3+) and Tm~(3+) with extrac-tant P_(229) from the solution of HNO_3 is greater than that from HCl. The thermal ef-fect data of extraction under 15--55℃ show △H>0 and △S<0, and enthalpy va-riation makes the reaction in progress. The properties and behaviour of thermaldecomposition of Tb(HA_2)_3 and Tm(HA_2)_3 solid complexes were studied by usingFreeman and Carroll's calculation method. The kinetic parameter of the thermal de-composition reaction of Tb(HA_2)_3 and Tm(HA_2)_3 extraction complexes was calcula-ted and the data reliability is more than 95%.
