Abstract  It is successful to prepare the AI / TiC intragranular composites fabricated by XD+ casting and contact reaction method. The concept, formation conditions and formation mechanism of metal matrix intragranular composites were presented. The intragranular composite between α-Al and TiC leads to crystalline fracture.
