Abstract  The effect of solidification rate on the solid/liquid interface morphology,microstructure and longitudinal tensile properties of unidirectionally solidified Fe-C eutecticalloy was investigated. With the help of computer image analysis system, the irregular degreeof graphite flakes was defined, which can be used to represent the graphite flake distributionstate. Plots of variation of the solidification rates vs irregular degree and tensile properties arepresented.
