Abstract The effect of alloying element V and temperature on the deformation behaviourof TiAl intermetallic compound has been investigated by using double-notch shearing test.Experimental results revealed that the V additive may improve the low temperature ductilityand decrease the ductile-brittle transitional temperature. The strength of the TiAl compoundwith V additive increases with the increase of temperature, up to a peak value at 700℃ ap-proximately.
