Abstract The nominal fatigue crack growth resistance of alloy 2090 is superiorto that of alloy 7075, which is due to the high crack closure effect, yet the intrin-sic one of alloy 2090 is inferior to that of alloy 7075. By adding trace ot Ce toalloy 2090, both intrinsic fatigue crack growth resistance and crack closure effectmay be simultaneously improved, consequently, the nominal growth resistance ofthe alloy may be notably bettered.
