Abstract The plot of relative change of shear modulus vs temperature for as-tempered Fe-Mn base alloy containing Cr and Ti reveals a minimum and a maxi-mum, while for the alloy containing Cr, Ni, W and C, a maximum only. These seemdue to that the alloying elements Ni, W and C decrease the transition point of an-timagnetization. The change of shear modulus resulted from mechanical linear mag-netostriction may be gradually increased with the increase of tempering temperatureor the prolongation of tempering time.
