Abstract The magnetic properties of(Sm1-xYx)2Fe(17)Ny were studied by Mossbauer spectroscopy. The following conclusions were obtained:The uniaxial anisotropy of Sm sublattice is stronger and is the main mechanism of the total anisotropy; The preferential occupation of Y atom leads to the change of crystal structure and the influence on anisotropy is smaller.
