Abstract The in situ forming TiB_2 reinforced AI composite was favourably prepared by reaction-sintering of pure AI, Ti and B powders under vacuum. It is of microsize and free from lattice defect practiclly. A superior room temperature strength and modulus, as well as good elevated temperature properties were obtained as comparison with that of pure Al.
