Abstract The change of microstructure of fatigue specimens before and after la-ser radiation was studied by transmission electron microscopy. The results show thatthe diameter of dislocation cell λ tends to a constant λ_c at fatigue failure. Based onthe principles of continuuous damage mechanics, expressions of the fatigne damagecriterion and processes of fatigue damage evolution for LY12CZ have been derived.
