Abstract Study was made of the micellization, interfacial characteristics andextraction kinetics of a newly developed D_2 EHPA-H_2 RPA-Al~(3+) mixed system. In thesystem, more vigorous micellization and better interfacial acitivity of H_2RPA wererevealed. While it has a decreasing tendency to micellization and inter facial activitywith increase of D_2EHPA content. The adsorption behaviour of H_2RPA at the in-terface is quite contrary to that of D_2EHPA. The controlling mechanism of extra-ction kinetics for the non-micella mixed extractant system was confirmed as thetype of interfacial chemical reaction, and the equation for extraction rate was thusobtained. This non-micella extraction system of mixed extractants seems to befavourable to hydrometallurgy.
