Abstract  A high shock pressure was brought to bear on the grey cast iron totransform its graphite into diamond. Observations under SEM and TEM as well asX-ray diffraction analysis show that the diamond is coexisting structure of cubicand hexagonal lattices, and has a strict crystal orientation.
