Abstract  In the present study, a coupled mathematical model to describe the fluid flow and heat transfer in the tundish was developed. The three-dimensional flow and heat transfer in the one-strand tundish with and without flow control were numerically studied, and the functions of flow control devices in tundishes were discussed.
