Abstract An Ni3P/Ni nanophase material, syathesised by the complete crystallization ofan amorphous Ni--P alloy, has been annealed isothermally at differellt temperatures. Variationsof the lattice parameters of the two nanophases with the annealing temperature/time were detendned by means of quantitative X--ray diffraction measurement. It was found that the latticedistortion of the nanophases was recovered during the annealing treatment, but the recovery behaviors of the two nanophases were obviously different at different annealing temperatures. TheseVariations in the microstructure of the nanophases were interpreted in terms of thermodynamicconsiderations.
