Abstract  The effect of phosphoric acid surface treatment on oxidation resistance of TiAlintermetallics was investigated. The results showed that this surface treatment reduced theoxidation rate of TiAl by one order of magnitude, and it is very effective in improving the cyclicokidation resistance. It is determined that the improvement of the oxidation resistance was dueto the formation of a nearly continuous inner A12O3 layer.Keywods:TiAl intermetallics, isothermal/cyclic oxidation, surface treatment
