Abstract  Studies were made of the influence of B distribution in bcc lattice in-termetallic compound Fe_3(Si, Al) on the long range order and the improvement onits brittleness. A new mechanism concerning weakening of grain interiors is put for-ward. Based on this mechanism, the brittleness improvement of the bcc intermetallicswith B addition could be well explained.
