Abstract The morphology and distribution of Nb-rich phases in chilled cast iron were studied by using STEM. The results demonstrate that there are three morphologies of Nb-rich phases in chilled cast iron, which are lumpy NbC, complicated strip-like phase, and compound with pearlite structure.(Correspondent: FU Li, professor, Foundry Division, Shenyang High School of Industry, Shenyang 110044)
