TWINNING STRUCTURES OF σ-Ni_3 Nb PHASE IN INCONEL 718

Abstract Twinning geometry of σ-Ni_3Nb phase in Inconel 718 was studied byelectron diffraction, electron micrography and trace analysis. The twinning planesare either {201} or {203}. The σ-phase lattices at the two sides of the twin inter-face coincides complerely, but the sites of Nb atoms in the twin change regularly.The transfarmation matrices of the above-mentioned twins were given as well.
