Abstract The lower bainitic carbides precipitation in 40CrMnSiMoV steel previouslyaustempered at 310℃ was observed in situ under high temperature stage on high voltage TEM.The typical lower bainitic carbides can precipitate from within bainitic ferrite tempered attemperature higher than isothermal transformation for certain period. It revealed that the lowerbainitic ferrite is supersaturated with C. The carbides may also precipitate from austenite, butthey have no typical feature ofthe lower bainitic carbides.
