Abstract A mathematical relation is derived for mass transfer coefficient at pha-se interface evolving inert gas bubbles based on the character of fluid flow andmass transfer, which is checked with literature data. It shows that the mass transfercoefficient induced by inert gas bubbles is not only proportiona to the square rootof the volume rate of gas, but also related to the behaviour of gas bubbles suchas bubble size, bubble distribution density and interface area.
