Abstract Combined behaviour of droplets with pools in MIG welding, a numerical analysis model has been developed for three-dimensional fluid flow and heat transfer in MIG weld pools with droplet impact. Droplet heat energy and momentum carried off into pool as well as pool-surfaee deformation were fully considered. Fluid flow field, temperature distribution and pool-surface deformation are successfully simulated.
