Abstract TEM microfractography of the fatigue striation formation was further analyzed resulting from investigation of the fatigue crack propagation in Cr12Ni2WMoV steel, and the data for quantitative evaluation of striation interval was developed. The relationship between the rate of fatigue macrocrack propagation, da/dN, and microstriation interval, α, has been discussed. On the assumption to explain the phenomena observed and by interoducing an areacorrecting function: F(△K,R)=A(△K)~m/(1-R)K_c-△K the relation of (dα/dN)vs α may be expressed as dα/dN=F(△K,R)α(△K) The value F for Cr12Ni2WMoV steel is given.
