Abstract A computer simulation on the distribution behaviour of As, Sb and Bi during copper flash smelting has been carried out by using a mathematical model as well as the results of the overall equilibrium calculations. The results are in good agreement with those obtained from previous studies and industrial data. The effects of some operating conditions such as matte grade, oxygen potential, temperature and contents of minor elements in concentrate were predicted and elucidated.
