Abstract  Abstract: Wettability of PdNi-Cr-V alloy on SiC was studied with the sessile drop method. The newly-developed PdNi-(10-25)Cr-(5-25)V-Si-B brazing filler could be used for joining SiC. The room-temperature three-point bend strength of the SiC/SiC joints brazed with the rapidly-solidified brazing foils at 1190℃ for 10 min is 84.6 MPa. In the interfacial layer near to SiC, elements Pd and Ni preferentially diffused to SiC and resulted in the reaction products of Pd-Si phase, Ni-Si phase and graphite. In the reaction zone further away from the SiC, mainly elements Cr and V in the brazing filler participated in the interface reaction, and formed Cr(V)-C, Cr(V)-Si, Cr(V)5Si3C. In the central part of the joint, the matrix was composed of Pd-Si, Ni-Si and V-Si phases, on which some blocky carbides V2C, Cr23C6 distributed scatteringly.
