Abstract By use of the Gasar process (unidirectional solidification of metal-gas eutectic), porous magnesium samples with radial pore distribution have been fabricated successfully through altering the heat transferring from the axial to radial direction. In addition, this paper also studied the structural features and the effect of gas pressure on porosity, pore size and distribution.
