Abstract A new boundary condition of the vorticity on the surface of the cavity caused by an impinging gas jet has been derived. The relationship between the flow field of the liquid and the impinging jet is then established. Comparing with the previous works, the velocity distributions of the flow fields are in better agreement with the experimantal results meastared.
