Abstract Transformation characteristics of the dendritic austenite and eutectic austenitein commercial grey cast iron during continuous cooling have been investigated. Under exper-imental conditions, the dendritic austenite tends always to transform into pearlite structure,while eutectic austenite may transform into ferrite, pearlite of acicular (bainite andmartensite) structure.
