Abstract  A chaotic local--region linear prediction model is constructed to predict the silicon content in hot metal of blast furnace (BF) No.1 at Laiwu Iron and Steel Group Co. and BF No.6 at Linfen Iron and Steel Group Co. As a result, more than 80.0% hit rate of prediction in the range of [Si]0.1% is attained with one--step prediction for both BF, and even 89.1% for sample (b) of BF No.1 at Laiwu Iron and Steel Group Co. The prediction precision is about 10-2. The result is helpful for industrial practice.
