Abstract  Effect of Cr in substitution for a part of Fe on structure and magnetic properties of Sm_2(Fe_(1-x)Cr_x)_(17)N_(~2.7) alloys powder has been investigated.The structure of the alloys remains the same with an addition of Cr,saying x=0-0.1.With the increase of Cr content,their Curie temperature,anisotropic field.saturation magnetization,average Fe atom moment and average hyperfine field decrease slightly.But their homogeneity may be obviously improved and coercivity increased even up to 1592 kA/m for Sm_2(Fe_0.95Cr_0.05)_17N_(~2.7) powder.
