Abstract  Effect of γ--irradiation on the shape memory alloy CuZnAl has been studied by the techniques ofTEM, positron annihilation etc. The martensitic transformation temperature of the alloy increases obviously af-ter γ--irradiation at a dose of 2×10~7 Gy but not for a dose of 1×10~7 Gy. The shape memory effect in bothirradiated alloys remains unaffected.
