Abstract The extraction of Zn(Ⅱ) from hydrochloride medium with 2-ethylhe-xylphosphonic acid mono-2-ethylhexyl ester (HRH/EHP, HA) and hydrochloridesalt of primary amine N_(1923) (RNH_3Cl) in n-heptane has been investigated. A syn-ergistic effect and antagonistic effect were found to be present in the system. ltwas ascertained that the interaction between HA and RNH_3Cl during extraction,HA_(0)+RNH_3Cl_(0)?RNH_3A_(0)+H~(+)+Cl~(-), seriously affected the extraction of Zn(Ⅱ)and that the synergistic or antogonistic extraction of Zn(Ⅱ) could be obtained inthe presence of excess RNH_3Cl over HA or excess HA over RNH_3Cl.
