Abstract  The needle-like and network carbides in wear-resistant high carbon manganesesteel as-casted will be nodularized and dispersed. by a large majority, in austenite after modi-fication with Mg system agents. The impact toughness of the steels may be obviously improvedand the hardness also increased to a certain extent. And therefore it seems to be available whenthe steels are still as-casted, and no necessity of heat treatment may be often made to bettertheir wear resistance.
