Abstract  Partial transformation of quenched martensite into austenite during aging in a newly developed maraging steel has been investigated by means of TEM, X-ray diffraction technique, dilatometer and high temperature microscope, etc. The mechanism of the transformation, the rule of formation, the morphology and distribution of reverted austenite and their effect on mechanical properties have been discussed.
