Abstract The viscosity of 24 melts of different composition, containing not less than 60% CaF_2 and not more than 40%(CaO+La_2O_3), has been determined, and the phase characteristics of these melts under different solidification regimes has been investigated by petrography, EPMA and X-ray structural analysis. A model of the structure of these liquid melts may be suggested. A low viscosity region is obtained after the iso-viscosity diagrams at 1550,1530 and 1500℃ are constructed.
