Abstract Mechanism of extraction of Fe(Ⅲ) from sulphate solution by primaryamine N1923 and stripping of Fe loaded organic phase with dilute H_2SO_4 was inves-tigated. The organic phase was characterized by FT-IR and photon correlation spec-troseopy. The composition of extracted species as well as the content of H_2O inorganic phase were determined. The dependency of both the rate of extraction andstripping on the formation of reverse micelle in primary amine (N1923) system hasbeen confirmed. It is shown that the extraction of Fe(Ⅲ) by primary amine sulpha-te may be related to the adduct formation or cation exchange reaction under differ-ent concentrations of H_2SO_4 in aqueous solution.
