Abstract  The particles of M_(23)C_6 precipitate in Ni-base superalloy M17G were selectively dissolved in an aqueous solution of 12%(NH_4)_2SO_4 (pH-value was adjusted to 9) in the potential range of +200 to +800 mV (S. C. E.). The anodie dissolution process has been investigated in terms of potential-sweep and potential-step polarization techniques. For the finely dispersive phase in the alloy, a new model has been developed to describe the selective anodic dissolution process, which is eontrolled by electrochemical polarization.
