Abstract  An attempt was made to understand the behaviour of Al and N, and to determine the mutual proper range of them contained in the grain oriented silicon steel. It has been shown that its magnetic properties is affected by the formation of AIN as effective inhibitor in which the N content seems to play an important role. The N both contained in solid solution and combined in AIN were determined by hydrogen extracting method. Finally, its technological feature influenced mainly by such AIN inhibitor has been discussed.
