Abstract  The deformation mechanism of α-titanium in the temperature range -196—400℃ has been investigated by differential tensile tests. The activation energies, activation volumes and frequency factor are thus obtained. After comparing with various dislocation mechanisms, it is shown that the deformation-controlling process is probably the overcoming of the Peierls-Nabarro force.
