Abstract  A new process for producing medium and low-carbon ferromanganese wherebyhigh-carbon ferromanganese is decarburized by gaseous oxygen in a converter is propos-ed. This paper gives the thermodynamic grounds of the process, in which the temper-ature conditions for the conversion is indicated, the loss of manganese by vaporizationand effect of vacuum estimated.
