Abstract Several nearly zero-magnetostrictive non-crystalline toroidal samples have been examined for the shift of hysteresis loops changed by the magnetic operations prior to their measurements. It is shown that the loop shift of the samples annealed over 420℃ is related to the precipitation of crystallites with high H_c from the non-crystalline matrix. It can be eliminated to a certain extent by means of some suitable demagnetizing or shock-magnetizing, and the H_c of the shift-eliminated loops varies with the operations preformed.
