Abstract Structural relationship between Z and T phases in a rapidly solidifiedAl-Li-Cu-Mg-Zr alloy has been studied by high-resolution electron microscopy andconventional tramission electron microscopy. The result shows that there exist two well de-fined orientation relationships between Z and T phases. The observed structural faults in Zand T phases could be interpreted. The structrues of the two phases is closely related to eachother, certain faulted structures in one phase can be seen as the other phase when the faultedarea is extended.
