INFLUENCE OF Si AND Mn ON MORPHOLOGY OF BAINITIC FERRITE AND KINETICS OF BAINITE TRANSFORMATION IN Fe-C ALLOY
LIU Shikai; YANG Liu; ZHANG Jun; ZHU Degui (Southwest Jiaotong University; Chengdu)
    Acta Metall Sin, 1992, 28 (12): 1-8.
    Abstract   PDF (1638KB) ( 677 )
Morphologies and microsubstructures of bainitic ferrite, α_b, in 6 alloys of Fe-C-Si, Fe-C-Mn and Fe-C-Si-Mn systems have been examined using optical and transmission electron microscope. The difference of morphology between alloys was found to attribute to the solute drag-like effect. The relative incubation time, τ, of bainite transformation in different alloys was estimated by the calculated volume free energy change, △G_v. Comparing with the τ measured on the TTT-curves, it is found that the difference between the calculated and measured values are large enough in Fe-C-Mn and Fe-C-Si-Mn alloys. It means that the △G_v is not the main factor to determine the values of τ of these alloys. The segregation of Mn at prior austenite, γ, grain boundaries was detected by STEM+EDS and second ion mass spectroscopy (SIMS). Thus, nucleation of α_b at prior γ grain boundaries is therefore retarted and the fraction of intergranular ferrite increases with Mn content. The complex effect of Si and Mn is thought to be the effect of Si enhancing the segregation of Mn to γ grain boundaries.

ZHANG Lei; WANG Peixuan; TAO Rong; MA Ruzhang; ZHANG Guoguang (University of Science and Technology Beijing)
    Acta Metall Sin, 1992, 28 (12): 9-14.
    Abstract   PDF (1022KB) ( 682 )
Nucleation and growth of He bubbles at different annealing temperatures T≤1023 K in stainless steels HR-2 and SS321, implanted with He~+ (40—70 keV, 1×10~(16)-6×10~(17) He~+ /cm~2), were observed under TEM. T=0.45T_m seems to be a transition temperature. The He bubbles continue mainly their nucleation at 0.3T_m References | Related Articles | Metrics
IN SITU OBSERVATION OF THERMAL FATIGUE CRACK GROWTH IN 3Cr2W8V STEEL
LIU Jianhong; HE Shiyu; YAO Mei (Harbin Institute of Technology)
    Acta Metall Sin, 1992, 28 (12): 15-17.
    Abstract   PDF (721KB) ( 544 )
The growing process of thermal fatigue cracking in 3Cr2W8V steel was observed under desk SEM fitted with self-made minisized device for thermal fatigue test. Before growing of thermal fatigue crack, the main crack tip reveals to blunt firstly, and some holes and uncontinuous microcracks occur in front of it. The growth is developed by bridging of main crack together with holes and microcracks.

RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN FRACTAL DIMENSION AND CYCLIC CREEP PROPERTIES OF 34CrMoA ROTOR STEEL

    Acta Metall Sin, 1992, 28 (12): 18-22.
    Abstract   PDF (907KB) ( 688 )
Vertical section method has been used to measure the fractal dimension of cyclic creep fracture surfaces of 34CrMoA rotor steel at 550℃. The relationship between fractal dimension and cyclic creep properties has been analyzed. The fractal dimension is dependent upon the power product of minimum creep rate and rupture time, and satisfies the linear function with rupture strain.

    Abstract   PDF (1070KB) ( 993 )

Effect of β-fleck on properties of tensile elongation and low cycle fatigue life at room temperature for Ti-10V-2Fe-3Al alloy has been investigated. The cracks along initial β-grain boundaries in the β-fleck region may propagate to form intergranular brittle fracture. Under alternating load, the β-fleck often becomes a fatigue origin. While under higher strain, the cracks initiate and propagate to fracture early at the original β-grain boundaries in β-fleck region and at α-grain boundaries.

A MATHEMATICAL MODEL TO PREDICT PROCESS OF POST-COMBUSTION IN BOF
HE Youduo (Baotou Institute of Iron and Steel Technology); Y. SAHAI (The Ohio State University; U.S.A.)
    Acta Metall Sin, 1992, 28 (12): 29-38.
    Abstract   PDF (734KB) ( 664 )
A three dimensional turbulent combustion mathematical model, which contained K-ε two equation model for turbulent flow, mixture fraction f, for combustion reaction and concentration fluctuation g, for turbulent combustion, was developed and successfully applied to post-combustion process in BOF, even though the model did not address problems, such as, radiation, multi-phase flow and finite reaction rate, as the ones exist in real process. Nevertheless, some interesting results of off-gases flow pattern, temperature profile, and the shape of the turbulent flame of post-combustion in BOF were worked out. Two controllable parameters, lance height and the angle of sub-hole to horizontal were studied.

PROCESS OF DRYING IRON ORE GREEN PELLETS AND PROPOSAL TO ITS MATHEMATIC MODEL
HUANG Dianbing; KONG Lingtan; LIN Zongcai (University of Science and Technology Beijing)
    Acta Metall Sin, 1992, 28 (12): 39-45.
    Abstract   PDF (664KB) ( 496 )
Process of drying green pellet, the first operation of iron ore pellet calcination, has been investigated. The plot of drying rate vs time was newly found as "two-peak type" and "transition-type". On the basis of the mass balance and energy conversion, a mathematical model for the whole drying process was proposed. It is believed to be in fair agreement with experiment.

    TITANIZING OF BRASS
GE Wensun; ZHANG Huiwen; MAO Yuwen (University of Science and Technology Beijing)
    Acta Metall Sin, 1992, 28 (12): 46-48.
    Abstract   PDF (660KB) ( 495 )
Study was made of the optimum parameters of powder plating method for titanizing of brass, i.e., using a powder mixture containing 45% Ti, 6% NH4Br and the rest Al_2O_3 at 700℃ for 3 h. The corrosion resistance of the most suitable thickness, 20.5 μm, of the titanizing layer seems to be superior to that of bare brass up to 6.4 times, and the hardness reduces about 11%. The microstructures of the titainizing layer, in sequence from surface, are determined by X-ray diffraction analysis as TiZn_2O_4, Ti(Cu, Al)_2, α-CuZn(Ti) and α-CuZn.

ZHANG Heng; ZHANG Bangwei; TAN Zhaosheng (Hunan University; Changsha)
    Acta Metall Sin, 1992, 28 (12): 49-54.
    Abstract   PDF (429KB) ( 589 )
Effect of Sn on the glass-forming ability of liquid quenched Cu_(74)Ni_(12-x)Sn_xP_(14) alloys has been studied by X-ray diffraction and differential scanning calorimetry. Suitable addition of Sn, saying x=2-6 at.-%, may improve the glass forming ability till a complete amorphous structure of the alloy. Expermental facts were also considered from aspects of dynamics of phase transition and structural chemistry.
