The calculating models for activity and activity interaction parameter in ternary metallic melts were established.1nγof any element,ε,εand,ρ,ρ,ρbetween any element in any metallic melt could be calculated rapidly and accurately except for O,S,Se and Te.The models could be used in both solid and liquid metallic solutions.The factors to affect 1nγ were the electron density,nWS,electronegativity,Φ,and molar volume,V of solute i and solvent k.The values of 1nγ by calculation were well accordant with those by experiments.The fraction of same sign between calculating values and experiment data for Fe-base alloys reached 95.7%.The factors to affectεandεwere nWS,Φ,V of solute i,j and solvent k.The data by calculation and experiments were basically same.The fraction of same sign was above 80%.The more reliable the experiments,the more the ratio of the same sign.

Curie temperature and lattice constants of the nanocrystalline(Fe,Cu.Nb)_(77.5)Si_xB_(22.5-x)(x=9.5-17.5) alloys were found to decrease linearly with the increase of their total Si contenty x While the Si content in crystallized grains,x_α,increases linearly with increasing x.With the increase x,the magnetostriction of the alloys increases in amorphous state,but decreases after crystallization.The volume fraction of the nanocrystalline grains occurred in alloys may increase with the increase of x after annealing under certain temperature.

The Mssbauer spectra of some Fe_(73.5)Cu_1Nb3Si_(13.5)B_9 alloy samples as-quenched or after annealing at different temperatures have been measured at room temperature.The spectrum of as-quenched sample exhibits a typical broadened sextet as amorphous with mean internal field=17.01 MA/m.The structural relaxation or partial crystallization started after annealing at 480 to 500℃ for 0.5 h in N_2 atmosphere.General crystallization occurred remarkabley when annealed at 530℃ and above.The α-Fe(Si) nanocrystalline solid solution and residual amorphous are the two main phases after annealing at 530℃ for 1h and the relative amount of the amorphous is about 39.1%.The amount of residual amorphous phase decreases with increasing annealing temperature,down to about 25% when annealed at 620t.The internal field of the amorphous also decreases with increasing annealing temperature when general crystallization occured,however it increases a little at the structural relaxation stage.The nearest neighbour Fe atoms number distribution of Mossbauer atom in α-Fe(Si) solid solution has been calculated according to their correspondent subspectrum areas.The concentration of Si in the α-Fe(Si) phase and the ordering degree of the solid solution can also be estimated in the same way.Finally,bulk magnetic texture with different orientation has been found in the sample annealed at 550℃.

Effect of Cr in substitution for a part of Fe on structure and magnetic properties of Sm_2(Fe_(1-x)Cr_x)_(17)N_(~2.7) alloys powder has been investigated.The structure of the alloys remains the same with an addition of Cr,saying x=0-0.1.With the increase of Cr content,their Curie temperature,anisotropic field.saturation magnetization,average Fe atom moment and average hyperfine field decrease slightly.But their homogeneity may be obviously improved and coercivity increased even up to 1592 kA/m for Sm_2(Fe_0.95Cr_0.05)_17N_(~2.7) powder.

Several multi-layer coatings have been designed so as to assess the diffusion barriering ability against Al,Ni,Co,etc.as well as the high temperature stability of the multi-arc plated Ti-N film after being aged at 1000 and 1100℃ for a long time.The results show that,up to 1000℃,Ti-N film is of good stability;it can prevent effectively Al from diffusing towards matrix,and slow down the rate of diffusion of Ni,Co from CoCrAlTaY to matrix.Above 1100℃,the morphology of Ti-N film changes from thin foil to particles.Apparently the particle-shaped Ti-N can not prevent Ni,Co from the inter-diffusing between matrix and CoCrAlTaY coating.

Behaviours of O_2 and C in Pt thin film were observed by Auger spectroscopy to be limited by diffusion.The activation energy of O_2 diffusion into Pt is different,saying,0.98 and 0.44 eV at higher and lower than 1000℃ respectively.In a range of 550-1000℃ or 1000-1200℃,O_2 diffuses outward or inward Pt film,which may be purified or oxidized respectively.In the temperature range studied,the activation energy of C diffusion is equal to 0.52 eV.Its diffusion behaviour is identical to that of O_2 and the concentration of C in Pt film increases or decreases with increasing or decreasing O_2 content respectively.

An investigation on transient processe of active dissolution-passivation was carried out for Fe in H_2SO_4 media.Based on the model for the growth of the pre-passive film developed by the authors,a fractal dememsion(D_s) of the film was obtained.This D_s and the rates of the formation of pre-passive film inceases with the increase of passivation potential.

The powder mixtures of Ni and Al with compositions of Ni50 at.-% Al and Ni-25 at.-% Al as well as Ni_3Al alloy powder were milled in a Spex 8000 Mixer/Mill respectively.After 3 h of milling,Ni-50 at.-%Al mixture transforms into NiAl with grain size of about 5 nm,while after 5 h,Ni-25 at.-%Al mixture transforms into disordered metastable Ni solid solution.As to the Ni_3Al alloy powder,5 h milling makes its structure change from Ll_2-type intermetallic compound with long range order into fcc disordered solid solution;further milling results in the formation of nanocrystalline structure.
