    Acta Metall Sin, 1994, 30 (20): 337-341.
    Abstract   PDF (322KB) ( 769 )
The dynamics for the fluid flow and the heat transfer in a spray deposition/ rapid solidification process was thoretically analysed. The stress was placed onto modelling such parameters as powder size distribution, gas exit velocity, gas mass flow rate and metal mass flow rate, and series equations governing the heat transfer in the atomization and deposition processes.

STUDY ON OXYGEN TRANSFER THROUGH MOLTEN SLAGS OF CaF_2+Al_2O_3 AND CaF_2+Al_2O_3+CaO SYSTEMS FOR ESR
WEI Jihe (Shanghai Univereity.of Technology);LIU Zongyuan(Xi'van Institute of Metallurgy Construction Engineering)
    Acta Metall Sin, 1994, 30 (20): 350-360.
    Abstract   PDF (654KB) ( 908 )
The permeability of oxygen through the molten slags of CaF_2+Al_2Os_3 and CaF_2+Al_2O_3+CaO systems for electrostag (ESR) was determined using. an oxygen concentration cell with ZrO_2 solid electrolyte. The effects of the components in the slags and temperture on the oxygen transfer property of the molten slags were considered. The permeability of the molten slags of these two systems whose compositions are essentially the same as the practical in the remelting, was obtained to be respectively 1× 10-20-6 × 10-19 and 1× 10-21-5 × 10-18 mol O2.cm-1.s-1 in the temperature range of 1673—1873 K under pure oxygen gas at 0.1 MPa. It increases with raising the contents of MnO_2, Fe_2O_3, Cr_2O_3, TiO_2,CaF_2and basicity in the molten slags, and the influence of MnO_2 and Fe_2O_3 is particularly remarkable. Also, it raises with an increase in temperature, and the oxygen transfer through the CaF_2-based multicomponent and complicate liquid slags may be treated as a rate process. The mechanism of oxygen transfer through the CaF_2-based liquid slags was discussed.

AMORPHOUS Cu_(50)Ti_(50) ALLOYINTERLAYER IN DIFFUSION BONDING OF Si_3N_4 CERAMICS
ZHAI Yang;REN Jialie ZHUANG Lijun(Tsighua University)
    Acta Metall Sin, 1994, 30 (20): 361-365.
    Abstract   PDF (421KB) ( 570 )
An attempt was made to prepare the Cu_(50)Ti_(50) and Cu_(50)Ti_(50)B amorphous alloy interlayers in diffusion bonding of Si_3N_4 ceramic substrates. The amorphous Cu_(50)Ti_(50) interlayer, in comparison with the crystalline one, may improve the technological operation, reduce the diffusion bonding temperature and obviously increase the shearing strength, particularly up to 340 MPa with some B addition. It seems that the mechanism of the diffusion bonding of Si_3N_4 with Cu_(50)Ti_(50) and Cu_(50)Ti_(50)B interlayers is due to an activeelement Ti, which diffuses toward the interface of joint and reacts with Si_3N_4 to form the interface phase, such as TiN, TiSi_2, etc.

MAGNETIC PROPERTIES AND HOT PLASTICITY OF HOT-PRESSING CAST PrFeB SYSTEM ALLOYS
ZHOU Shouzeng;DONG Qingfei;SHI Zhenghua;ZHANG Shouhua(University of Science and Technology Beijing)
    Acta Metall Sin, 1994, 30 (20): 366-372.
    Abstract   PDF (459KB) ( 485 )
Correlation between hot-pressing deformation and magnetic properties, such as μ_0 M_s,B_r iH_c and (B.H)_m of pr_(17)Fe_(76.5) Cu_(1.5)B_5 alloy has been studied. The μ_0M_s, B_r and (B.H)_m may be improved with the increase of strain along direction parallel to pressure applied at 973 K at hot pressing rate of 70 × 10~(10)s~(-1).The improvement of μ_0M_s relates to the decrease of contents of Pr and Cu.The iH_c increases with the fineness of grains of Pr_2Me_(14)B phase. And increase of B_r and (B H)_m is mainly dependent on the aligned factor(cosθ)p B_r= 1.2 T, iH_c= 1220 kA/ m and (B .H)_m= 260 kJ/ m3 of hot pressed magnets were obtained.

    Abstract   PDF (437KB) ( 502 )
Effect of of Ti or B particle size on the combustion temperature and propa gating rate in the self—propagating high temperature synthesis(SHS) process of TiB_2-xAl composites has been investigated. The size change of Al particles, which does not directly enter into the chemical reaction as Ti and B,may be much less influential to the SHS process. But the molten Al, formed during reaction, may retard the growth of TiB_2grains. Thus, the structure of SHS product can be controlled.By means of combustion front quenching (CFQ) with copper wedge, the structure formation of TiB_2-xAl composites in the SHS process was discussed

INTERFACIAL REACTION IN GRAPHITE FIBRES REINFORCED Al ALLOY COMPOSITES
YANG Haining; GU Mingyuan;JIANG Weiji;ZHANG Guoding(Shanghai Jiaotong University)
    Acta Metall Sin, 1994, 30 (20): 379-384.
    Abstract   PDF (455KB) ( 670 )
Comparative study under TEM was carried out of the interfacial microstructure in the long graphite fibres reinforced Al-0.35at.-%Ti alloy composites prepared under various conditions. The growth of interfacial reaction product,i.e., Al_4.C_3, was observed under high resolution electron microscope. Results show that the interfaces between the top of Al_4 C_3 and Al alloy matrix are rough and Al_4C_3 grows up continuously, while between the (000l) plane of Al_4C_3 and Al alloy matrix are smooth and Al_4C3 grows up along surfaces. These interfaces have different relative growth rates under differnt growth driving forces. Thus, the morphologies of Al_4C_3 in the composites differ upon the manufacturing parameters were changed. It seems that a proper reduction of volume fraction of graphite fibres will be available to improve further the properties of compsite.
