    Abstract   PDF (321KB) ( 527 )
A new method for synthesizing ultrafine metal oxide powders was presented in combination with solvent extraction. The extraction system used for Zr in HCl solution was selected based on industrial practice with tri-n-butyl phosphate(TBP) as extractant and kerosene as diluent. Conditions used to obtain reversed micellar solution were experimentally determined, i.e. high aqueous acidity and relatively high metal ion concentration. The micellar solution was then used to react with aqueous ammonia to produce precipitate followed by washing, drying and calcining of the precipitate, monodispersed ZrO_2 powders with an average diameter of 10 nm were obtained.

    Abstract   PDF (433KB) ( 584 )
Annealing embrittlement of the amorphous Fe-B-Si alloys is strongly dependent on their composition and is relatively susceptible to melt-quenching condition and annealing treatment. Alloys composed near the eutectic range, such as amorphous Fe80B11.5Si8.5 and Fe79B11.5Si9.5 alloys, and the ultra-thin ribbons made from suitable melt-spun technique are slightly tending to annealing embrittlement. Compared to conventional annealing regime, rapid annealing by pulse-current heating can obviously improve the magnetic properties of as-quenched alloys with holding the ductility. It is a hopeful practical method to obtain an optimum ductile and superior magnetic properties of amorphous Fe-B-Si alloy.

    Abstract   PDF (426KB) ( 533 )
Combined behaviour of droplets with pools in MIG welding, a numerical analysis model has been developed for three-dimensional fluid flow and heat transfer in MIG weld pools with droplet impact. Droplet heat energy and momentum carried off into pool as well as pool-surfaee deformation were fully considered. Fluid flow field, temperature distribution and pool-surface deformation are successfully simulated.

    Abstract   PDF (388KB) ( 638 )
The formation of metal-pipe winding with small bending radius under induction heating is revealed to conform to the mechanism of large plastic deformation. The compressed-winding model for small-radius pipe-bends was proposed and calculated using numerical analysing methods. The results may to be the theoretical basis for designing bending equipments and producing small-radius pipe-bends.
